HIRING PROCESS

GENERAL 

♦ When a vacancy is identified in a detachment, a job posting shall be drafted.

♦ Preference will be given to members of that specific First Nation  where the vacancy occurs.

♦ Preference will be given to First Nation persons.

♦ A medical and eye exam, at the applicants expense is to be submitted with resume and an APS application for employment .

♦ Sign a consent of authorization for release of information  including but not limited to financial, criminal and background check.

♦ The Deputy Police Chief shall respond to general inquires for employment
Individuals meeting the qualifications will have their resume kept on file at Headquarters for a period of six (6) months.

♦ Interviews with all qualified candidates shall be scheduled with the Regional Commander, Detachment Commander, Police Governing Authority representative or their designate and any others the Deputy Police Chief identifies.

CADET POSITIONS

♦ All potential applicants shall have successfully completed gross applicant testing by a recognized testing agency (ex: Applicant Testing Services, OPP, Metro Toronto) and be in possession of an Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police certificate of results.

♦ Applicants shall forward a copy of the OACP certificate of results with their resume, application for employment, release of information and required certificates to the Deputy Police Chief of the Anishinabek Police Service.
The Anishinabek Police Service has identified the minimum scores acceptable to apply as:

a) physical – 75%

b) written – 75%
 
c) overall score on the GATB of 270

♦ The cost of the OACP certificate is at the expense of the individual.     
 
TRAINED OFFICER POSITIONS

♦ All potential candidates shall have successfully completed Probationary Constable Course/Basic Constable Level II at Ontario Police College and hold an OPC certificate.

♦ Applicants shall forward an application for employment and all required certificates to the Deputy Police Chief of the Anishinabek Police Service.
The Deputy Police Chief is responsible for accepting all resumes and APS applications for employment. After the closing date has passed and all resumes and forms are received, the Deputy Police Chief or their designate will:

a) identify an interview panel

b) screen the applicants with the assistance of the panel

c) identify and schedule all qualified candidates for interviews

♦ Interviews with all qualified candidates are scheduled with the Regional Commander, Detachment Commander, Police Governing Authority representative or their designate and any others the Deputy Police Chief have identified.
